It's gonna be a challenge!

I am taking a free digital class over at Jessica Sprague. The first assignment is to make a list of your values/goals for the holidays and put them down in ink or on your blog so you can confirm them to yourself. So the challenge to me is to actually make the list and follow through with the entire class!

My words:
-family
-traditions
-laughter
-friends
-rest
-friendship
-food
-memories
-hot chocolate
-baking
-ornaments
-crafts
-snuggles
-smells
-fire
-carols
-lights

At the end of the day it is her hair!

Aurora has been asking to have her hair cut short like mine for quite a while now. I used to take her and get an inch cut off. Well after 3 long weeks of discussion about not being able to have a pony tail or braids she was still determined to have it cut off. I thought about it and decided its not my hair its hers and at the end of the day it will grow.....

This is how cute she looked after she had the 8 inches cut off! I bit my lip the entire time but once it was done I thought she looked so cute!

She's 4! Can that be?

It seems it was just yesterday she was my baby. Today she is 4! Happy Birthday sweet girl!
Mom: You are the birthday girl
Angel: No I not, I just Eva
mom: Yes you are, its your birthday and you are a girl
Angel: No I just Eva, just Eva!

Here is another conversation we had while cuddling in my bed...
Mom: You are getting so big
Angel: I grow and grow and I not fit your bed
Mom: Yes you will, are you still going to cuddle with me when you are 30?
Angel: No
Mom: Why?
Angel: I be too big, I pop your bed

Her first Citation!

We are very proud parents although her kindness doesn't surprise us. Aurora got her first citation for just being herself. A little Kindergarten friend was crying because there wasn't a swing for her so Aurora put her arm around her and said come on, lets go play on the slide. Off they went and the little friend was happy! Way to go baby!

You so happy?

This cutie had a blast at her first skating lesson of the season. She is becoming so independent and it is amazing to see this transformation! She insisted she take her own skates of. In the midst of taking them off she turned to me and said "Mommy, you so happy me have fun?" Yes baby girl Mommy is happy that you had fun!

Monkey Motion!

We are vacationing in Kelowna this week and took a drive into Penticton today. We took the kids for our 2nd annual family canal ride. Last year when we went Eva slept on me the entire way. This year, not so much....she decided to hop into the canal and then scream in sheer terror when her feet hit the weeds! Yeah, everyone looked at as and were probably thinking we were hurting her but what do they know anyways! I don't have any pictures of the canal ride to post because I didn't want to risk getting my camera wet. What I do have pictures of is these 3 monkeys at Loco Landing also found in Penticton. These particular pictures are of the kids having an amazing time on the Monkey Motion ride!

This little monkey thought it was pretty cool how high she could jump. She wasn't brave enough to try a flip on her own but the attendant was kind enough to help her flip over....

This monkey had No Fear when it cam to doing flips on the monkey motion! I think he managed to get 3 successful flips done. The funny part was the first flip he didn't grab back on to the ropes and wound up hanging upside down and eventually fell out of his harness! It was soooo funny to watch. He obviously wasn't traumatized because he got right back in and attempted a couple more! This little monkey was not so brave either. She did have huge smiles while doing her "high" jumps. You can always count on her to release shrieks of pure enjoyment!

Me so happy!

This photo certainly shows her excitement when mommy brought home new jammies for her! Unfortunately it is impossible to find Wall.e clothing for girls so I didn't even think twice when I found this summer jammie set in the boys section for Eva. She obviously doesn't care if it was intended for boys!

Look mom!

The other day Logan came out of his room after I asked him to get dressed and stated "Look Mom, I'm just like Dad"! He thought he was pretty cool having no shirt on just like dad! I thought he was pretty cool too!

Lazy Days of Summer!

We had a wonderfully hot day for a wonderful Play date with some great friends!
All the kids had a good time being "Ice Archaeologists". This is a fun activity to do with kids of many ages. All I did was freeze water in layers while adding a variety of things for the kids to dig out. I gave them many tools to get the items out. Their favourite seemed to be the medicine syringe and warm water....

Happy 75th Birthday Nan!

Today we celebrated my Grandmothers 75th Birthday. The whole family gathered together at my Aunt and Uncles place in Rosedale. There was lots to keep the kids busy. They started off the afternoon by cruising the property on the little tractor pulling the firewood behind. They quickly moved on to the chickens. The chickens didnt stand a chance with Logan and Cole around. After a bit the kids convinced Uncle Randy to catch them a chicken. Once they had that chicken in their hot little hands the kids packed it around for at least half an hour!

Eva sure had a fun time with my Uncle and her Great Uncle Randy! There is nothing better than sharing a good laugh together.

Some one forgot to watch the hot dogs! Everyone was blaming everyone else and no one owned up to the blackened wieners, ah well at least there was chicken and hamburgers....

Always an opportunity for this girl to pose even when its with a chicken....lol!

Happy Birthday! I can hardly believe Nan is 75! She certainly doesn't act like she is 75! She is still full of energy and always ready for a good birthday party! Looking forward to celebrating many more to come! Love you Nan!

Today we made art!

This was a cool little art experiment I found over here. It was a boring, lazy, rainy day.....We had done nothing all day except watch movies and nap. I thought it was about time we did something fun and here it is!
I squirted the shaving cream into a glass casserole dish. I squirted paint onto the shaving cream and let the kids go at mixing it around. We then took turns putting our pre-cut papers into the dish.

Here we have our finished art projects! What a fun and simple thing to do!

Sassy!

Taking a free class here with Jessica Sprague. Here is what I did on the first day.....I allready knew how to add the frame and word art but its nice to do it again because it reminds you of some keyboard clicks you have forgotten about!

This is my youngest monkey who decided it would be a blast to put the chalk all over her face rather than the sidewalk!

I just love Summer evenings!

Tonight we were out gathering rocks at the river for my flower bed in the front lawn. The kids were having a blast running and playing in the tall grass.....I remembered I had my camera with me and was lucky enough to catch some great pictures of the kids!

Let's give spencer something to look forward to every day!

I always read this blog and when she requested everyone to send a $1 Spencer, a boy with Cancer that is not expected to live through the summer, I thought what an awesome idea! Join me and many others in sending $1 to Spencer! The contest is over but thats not what its about anyways. Below is some information I copied from Lisa's blog.....

One of my sweet neighbors, Dana Lyman, has a dear friend whose son is in the final stages of cancer. He most likely will not live through the summer. She just spent the last week at his house in Portland, Oregon and since that time has been brainstorming to come up with something fun to do for Spencer. She finally thought of it. She's asking people everywhere to send an envelope to Spencer with a dollar bill inside. Think how great that will be--a mailbox full of envelopes containing a $1 bill. Do not include your return address. This will add to the fun and mystery. He'll know where all envelopes have come from by the postmark. And--if you live in a different country, please participate too. I think Spencer will get quite a kick seeing currency from different countries. This really is easy--no card or creativity required! Please address your envelope to: Spencer Hardy17968 NW Gilbert Lane Portland, OR 97229

The bravest kids oh my!

When I was 3 I doubt you would have caught me trying to pull a 190lb Burmese Python back into my lap so I could snuggle with it! I betcha I would have been in tears, but not Eva! I don't know how many times I pulled this snake back into her lap but it was just too strong for her. The other python in the back ground is 140lbs! That's the one daddy held around his neck. I never would have thought I would even touch a snake never mind be in the same room as one that wasn't behind some sort of glass but I did it. I think the little ones brought out some bravery in us adults.....

This big 6 yr old is proudly holding a Caiman. Again no fear just smiles. This Caiman was very tame. He never opened his mouth at the children. He was just looking around checking out the scenery....

This blows my mind! I can not believe my 5 yr old wanna be Princess actually held a hairy and gross Tarantula! I couldn't even gather up the nerves to hold this one!

Going to School

I have been taking Eva to the Montessori Preschool that Aurora currently attends. The intention is to give Eva a chance to practice going to school and being around other children. She tried going to preschool this past September but it was too overwhelming for her. I am finding her experience this time is much more pleasant. Eva loves any activity that involves using covering her hands and feeling various sensations. I could barely pry her away from this activity......As you can tell she thoroughly enjoyed herself and is well on her way to becoming a baker! Another activity Eva enjoys is transferring water from one container to another. This activity is really good for her fine motor skills. You can see the concentration on her face. I love the fact that the Montessori environment does not have any toys but only activities that will help the child with daily life skills. I also love that the Montessori method allows the child to decide what activity they would like to work on and for what period of time.

Is this really spring?

Aren't these bathing beauties super cute.....I can say that because after all they are mine! These kids are ready for some serious fun cooling down!

Seriously.....it has been sooo nice! I am loving it and can hardly wait for school to be out for the summer! We have had record breaking temps for this time of year....according to the Vancouver Sun Newspaper, Chilliwack was a Fraser Valley hot spot on June 3rd with a record high of 34.4, beating the old mark of 32.6 on the same date in 1989.

This boy captures everyones heart with that smile....my wish for him is that he keeps smiling always...

Sunscreen, swim suits, goggles, sister, pool and oh yes we cant forget the pose! They certainly take their pictures seriously.....

She just might break some hearts! Not so sure I want to see the teen years.....

We are going to the zoo how 'bout you?;'

The kids were so excited to be going on the bus to the ZOO! Logan must have told me 10 time last night that we had to make sure we went to school on time so we didnt miss the bus. What was he trying to say? That we are always late....Well today we were actually early! Yay us! I think the bus was the best part of the day for Logan. This smiling face says it all. Ok well maybe the train ride was the best part of the day. Logan loves trains! We were in charge of taking 2 of his classmates with us around the zoo. Papa came along for the fieldtrip with us. Can you spot him calling out "All aboard"?
Not sure what this animal is but Aurora thought it was a good opportunity to strike a pose!
What better way to finish off the day than with a Lifesavers Popsicle.....Thanks Papa!
